As a pioneer of video art since 1970, Ulrike Rosenbach (*1943 in Bad Salzdetfurth / Germany, lives in Saarbrücken / Germany) uses videos, performances, video actions, and multimedia installations to explore the role of women and their traditional representation. Her work is process-based and spans various media: an action gives rise to a video, and the video leads to sculptural installations, which are then in turn incorporated into video performances. In this process, Rosenbach often examines religious or mythological representations of women in art history.
