Lydia Schouten
The early works of Lydia Schouten (*1948 in Leiden / Netherlands, lives in Amsterdam) primarily focused on performance, while her 1980s compositions predominantly utilized video. Since then, multimedia installations have become the hallmark of her practice. Her works, which often use eccentric staging as a stylistic device, can be understood as a feminist critique of traditional roles and the portrayal and representation of women in the mass media.
