Hermine Freed
Hermine Freed (*1940 in New York, †1998 in New York) studied painting, but was mainly active as a filmmaker. Beginning in 1974, she was a lecturer in video art at the School of Visual Arts, New York. Freed’s videos explore the relationship between what is directly perceived and the recognition of past experiences. She worked with blue-screen technology, image overlays, and electronic color changes, as well as mirrors, optical devices, lenses, and magnifying glasses.
