Charlemagne Palestine
The composer, musician, and video artist Charlemagne Palestine (*1947 in New York, lives in Brussels) is one of the pioneers of minimal music. During the 1970s, Palestine created records, videos, sculptural objects, and abstract, expressionist visual scores. He also regularly performed piano concerts in his loft in New York’s Tribeca, surrounded by a bevy of stuffed animals. Since the 1980s, Palestine has focused on sound and video pieces, many of which are closely linked to his practice as a composer and musician.
