During his studies at the University of Wisconsin, Bruce Nauman (*1941 in Fort Wayne / USA, lives in Galisteo / USA) turned away from painting and began searching for an artistic approach that adequately addressed the circumstances in the United States at that time. The subject of being an artist became central to Naumann’s various experimental works. In movement sequences filmed in his studio in San Francisco, Nauman investigated his own body in relation to space and as an instrument of perception.
